If it is your very first wax, book it four to six weeks before your holiday party or special event, then come back about three days before the big day for your final wax. That first appointment lets your skin get used to waxing well ahead of time, so by the time your event wax comes around there are no surprises, less sensitivity and a much cleaner result.

December fills up quickly at both of our studios, with office parties, family photos, weddings and New Year’s Eve plans all landing in the same few weeks. After almost 13 years of waxing Denver at our Berkeley and Central Park studios, this is the timing we recommend to every client who wants to feel smooth and confident on the day that matters.

Why should my first wax be four to six weeks before my event?

Your very first wax is the one where your skin is most likely to feel a little sensitive, because your hair has never been removed from the root before and your skin is still getting used to the process. Booking it four to six weeks ahead gives you time to see how your skin responds, settle into an aftercare routine that works for you, and let your hair grow back on a schedule we can work with.

By your second wax, the hair has usually started growing back on a more even cycle, which means more of it is ready to come out at the same time. That is what gives you the cleaner, smoother wax you want for your event. If you are thinking about your first Brazilian, it is $65, and first time clients get their first Brazilian for $32.50.

How many days before my event should I get waxed?

Plan your final wax about three days before your event. Most redness fades within a day, although giving your skin a few days means any sensitivity has fully calmed down before you put on that dress, those tights or anything fitted. Try not to wax the day before or the morning of, because freshly waxed skin is at its most sensitive for the first 24 to 48 hours.

How long does my hair need to be before I come in?

Your hair should be about the length of a grain of rice, which is usually three to four weeks of growth after shaving or your last wax. If you have been shaving, stop as soon as you book your first appointment so your hair has time to grow to the right length. Hair that is too short is harder for the wax to grab, and that can mean a less complete result.

When should I book brows, lashes and dermaplaning before an event?

For brow lamination or a brow tint, we recommend booking about two weeks before your event, so your brows have settled into their new shape and color and you have time to enjoy them. Dermaplaning is one of the best things you can do before photos, and booking it three to five days ahead means any slight pinkness has settled and your makeup goes on smooth and even.

If you would love lifted, darker lashes for your photos, a lash lift and tint is $110, and your esthetician can help you choose the best day to book it around your event.

What should I do after my event wax?

For the first day or two, skip hot baths, saunas, heavy workouts and tight clothing on the waxed area, and avoid scented lotions. A gentle exfoliation a few days later helps keep ingrown hairs away, so you stay smooth through the whole holiday season. Our aftercare guide walks you through the first 48 hours step by step.

Holiday waxing questions

Book your first wax four to six weeks before your event. This gives your skin time to get used to waxing and lets your hair settle into an even growth cycle, so your final wax before the event is cleaner and more comfortable.

How many days before an event should I get waxed?

About three days before your event is ideal. That gives any redness or sensitivity time to fully calm down, so your skin looks and feels its best on the day.

Can I get waxed the day before a party?

We recommend waxing about three days ahead instead. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive for the first 24 to 48 hours, so a little extra time means you can enjoy your event without any irritation.
